Nitrokey Setup Notes

This page is intended as the hardware-focused companion to
:doc:`gpg-ssh-keys`.

It may be used to capture project-specific setup notes for supported Nitrokey
models, including:

- initial device initialization
- PIN and Admin PIN setup
- retry counter policy
- touch or presence requirements where supported
- verification of card visibility using ``gpg --card-status``
- backup storage preparation on Nitrokey Pro 2 Storage

- verifying the OpenPGP applet is visible
- setting or rotating PINs and Admin PINs
- validating that the encrypted storage area is mounted correctly
- verifying that the signing subkey is resident on the card
